For $9900 US you get just about everything you'll need, minus a 5.0
Mustang donor car for wiring harness and running gear (no hard-to-find
Jag pieces!) A late model 5.0l Mustang is about $2500 US for a side-hit,
The parts are about $5000 new ala carte, if you go that route. For all
this, you get to build a 1900lb Cobra with a true aluminmum subframe
with a real round tube chassis. Only the body is glass and since it
isn't structural, this keeps weight down. Other kits use fiberglass
subframes that cost and weigh more than the aluminum, which looks better
anyway!
I have their assebly manual ($50) and it looks great. O-60mph in 3.75
sec. with a 300HP EFI 5.0L, Mustang five speed, 3.73 gears and Comp T/A
R1 tires! Not bad for a car that will get 30+ MPG on the highway. It
does low fives rock stock (225HP) on street tires with a 2.73 gear. The
down side is that it takes three to six months to build properly. The
upside, besides awesome performance, is that it can be built, complete,
for about $14,000, less than a new Ford Escort.
